When we engineered our 9” Ford Third Member Holding Fixture we wanted to manufacture a fixture that offered three features that no other fixture currently on the market offered.

1. One purpose dedicated design, which means no arms to adjust, no parts to lose, and no “making it work” or set up required.
2. Provision for dial indicator mount.
3. Optional bench mount or engine stand mount to better utilize existing shop equipment.

The Superior Machine and Fabrication 9” inch Ford third member holding fixture is a heavy-duty professional grade tool that allows center sections to be securely mounted and held for service, rebuild and for ring and pinion installation and set-up. Having the ability to mount the dial indicator directly to the fixture is the best way to achieve accurate and repeatable measurements for such measurements as pinion depth, backlash and endplay. This Fixture is compatible with both OEM and aftermarket, cast iron and aluminum 9” Ford center sections. The included adjustable dial Indicator mounting steam excepts most standard dial indicators and can be relocated 180° around the fixture mounting flange to be used to measure multiple measurements and settings. Bench top mounting base allows fixture to rotate 360°, and a quick pin easily locks fixture in to 4 positions (vertical and horizontal). The fixture is fabricated from 1/2” thick steel CNC laser cut plate with a 1 ½” round steel tube shank, tig welded and powder coated. The 9” Ford Third Member Holding Fixture bench mount version can be bolted to any work bench using the (4) 3/8” mounting holes in the swivel base. The 9” Ford Third Member Holding Fixture for Engine Stand mounts to most commonly available engine stand heads using (4) ½” bolts.
